It wouldn’t be so bad if they used Ai in the first instance but then a human had to review in any appeal process. Unfortunately they aren’t – they also use Ai to review the appeal and that is blindly agreeing with the first Ai presumeably because they are both working from the same algorithm in determining a breach of policy. In the case you mentioned it was only overturned by YouTube because the video strikes and removals started to attract the attention of bigger Channels and IT websites – the negative press finally reached YouTube HQ.

I had the same problem with Microsoft and an unjust ban to my Microsoft account I had held for years – in that case Microsoft also employed Ai to review Ai decisions. Only after I sought assistance from our Fair Trading Office here in Oz did things then finally come to the attention of a Microsoft Escalation Manager. It still took months from start to finish but in the end I had the ban overturned and my account reinstated. Without that Fair Trading assistance I would still be unfairly and unjustly banned.

I can imagine a future where you are unjustly accused by an Ai-sentient robot cop for some heinous crime. Hopefully they won’t also be authorised to administer capital punishment on the spot before a human reviews the evidence !
