You make a good point. Clean installs seem to always pick up the old equipment a bit.

I still think Windows 8 is a faster OS, though. It could be a false impression but I read comments all over the internet that seem to support that feeling.

Maybe ..it could also be just the new install which almost always seems to speed computers up until they become bogged down with the usual slow down stuff like excessive start up programs and the usual array of add ons.
Even so, Win8 might just be ultimately faster as you said…?
